New Food

Before I got my car I was stuck eating food from the convenience store down the street. Yuck. Luckily they carried basic ingredients like flour and sugar, so I could at least bake a little bit. Once in a while I would get to a real grocery store to stock up on other food. This was when things got tricky: I could only purchase what I could carry in two hands and a backpack. I also needed all of those things to last me at least a month. This was my basic list:

  • Pasta
  • Tortillas
  • Tomato paste
  • Black beans
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Mozzarella
  • Coconut milk
  • Rice
  • Kalamata olives
  • Fresh fish
  • Chicken breast
  • Spinach
  • Feta Cheese
  • Couscous
  • Frozen vegetable stir fry

This stops today! Notice the ridiculous amounts of cheese? Notice the lack of fresh veggies and fruit? Today I've decided to write a list for groceries based on brand new recipes that are fresh and healthy for me.
Some recipes that I'd like to try:
Kale Salad
Quinoa Stuffed Acorn Squash
Raw Carrot Avocado Soup
Spinach Chick Pea Curry

The new improved grocery list:

  • Pasta
  • Tortillas
  • Tomato paste
  • Black beans
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Mozzarella
  • Coconut milk
  • Rice
  • Kalamata olives
  • Fresh fish
  • Chicken breast
  • Spinach
  • Feta Cheese
  • Couscous Quinoa
  • Frozen vegetable stir fry
  • Kale
  • Pine nuts
  • Acorn squash
  • Bell peppers
  • Chickpeas
  • Avocado
  • Carrots
  • Figs
  • Mango
  • Lemon

I'm hoping I can have fun finding new ways to incorporate fresh foods into my diet. I've been used to doing things one way for almost a year and a half! I'm excited for the change.
